Artist’s Statement
I find inspiration for my painting in my everyday life, the oceanfront village where I live, my home nestled in the coastal mountains that surround the village and the indigenous wildlife. Much of my work is based on scenes inside my home and surrounding environment. I try to capture the uniqueness of the day in my art.
Reflections and heritage are a primary part of my painting. My reflections can be a literal reflection, the image or series of images seen in a shiny surface such as polished copper and marble, or a retrospective reflection based on my heritage, family events, landscapes, iconic buildings and places, everyday objects, people or pets. I hope my art conveys the same sense of wonder I feel when I look at my piece of the world.
